D-17 Long SEIOHBO

$ 42,000

The motif is the Queen Mother of the West (Seiohbo), a goddess who grants immortality. The background is blurred by sprinkling gold powder and kinhirame (flattened gold powder). Clouds and other objects in the background are drawn by polishing Maki-e technique. The Queen Mother of the West is drawn using both Gin-yuji piling up technique and Kaki-wari technique. The kaki-wari technique is a technique to express lines by drawing around the line, so the lines look hollow. It is able to express the three-dimensional feelings and softness on the bulges of the cheeks and the folds of the clothes by kaki-wari technique. To draw very delicately in the details of such as the fine patterns on the clothes and use many soft curves make the result a luxurious and delicate finish.
