Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI-BLACK　

This is inspired by “Negoro-nuri”. It is a “Honkataji” finish that applies lacquer in layers after the process of “Nunokise” which is putting a cloth underneath. Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section.
It is painted the base with vermilion lacquer and on the top with black lacquer so that the red fabric could be seen from the cracks. It is not fully polished finish, but has a slightly less glossy finish to give it a used feel.

“Negoro-nuri” is one of Japanese lacquer painting technique that applies vermilion lacquer on to the black lacquer applied to the base. The black lacquer underneath sometimes comes up from the vermilion lacquer coatings and looks like patterns.
“Honkataji” is a sturdy piece of work that is coated with a base layer of cloth or lacquer and then applied lacquer.

Cigar Piccolo LAVA　

This pen was designed with inspiration from lava.
Carving with a carving knife to make grooves on “Nunokise” and “Honkagaji” finish base, sprinkling gold powder to the grooves. Then sprinkle charcoal powder and paint vermilion lacquer and blur it to express lava.

Cigar Portable AUTUMN EVENING

We described “Hagi (bush clover)” by the “Yako Maki-e” technique. This motif has many bowstrings so that the contrast of this motif’s edge of the line has also so many. This picture is taken after 1 month from the production. You can see the color slightly changed to red from the edge. As same as “Tame-sukashi” technique, the background in “shu” (red) becomes brighter as time passes. In case of Yako-nuri technique, the main motif (bush clover) is heaped up by black urushi, so this motif shines clearly with bright Shu color as background.

Cigar Long MOOSE　

A conifer tree described on a cap is black and a couple of moose on a body is painted with tame-sukashi technique.

Writer Piccolo GRAPES & WINE GLASS　

Wine glass was drew by Tamesukashi technique and Yakoh-Makie.
We put Raden (sea shell) to some parts of the banch of grapes.

Miyabigi Series KAGOAMIME

Based on the “Rattan Basket” fountain pen of Platinum Fountain Pens CO.,LTD. (produced around year 1924), it is designed in rectilinear form that was mainstream at the time covering with a bamboo basket knitted hexagonally using thinly shaved bamboo. The size is almost the same as Piccolo size.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section, and the basket are painted with black lacquer. The parts under the baske are finished with washed vermilion (Arai-shu) lacquer.

*”Hexagonal knitting” is the most popular bamboo knitting which the mesh looks like hexagon.

Miyabigi Series PHERNAMBUCO　

It is the same rectilinear form as “Bamboo Basket Mesh” and set the coveres made from Pernambuco. The size is almost the same as Piccolo but 1~2mm thicker because of the covers.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section are painted with black lacquer.
Because Pernambuco is a natural material, each wood grain and color will vary each other. To take advantage of the wood texture, It is only polished. Please be careful not to get ink on it because it is not coated. Also, since Pernambuco was originally used as a raw material for dyes, the color may transfer due to sweat or etc.

Pernambuco is a rare material native to Brazil and is used for the bows of stringed instruments. Due to excessive logging in Brazil, it is now protected by CITES and is difficult to obtain.

GOAT SHRINK LEATHER

The fountain pen wrapped with goat shrink leather.
It is designed with a low center of gravity and metals are used to its cover and screws. Custimization is available to change the color of clip, pen nib, and metal parts.

The goat shirink leather is called “chari leather” in Japan, named after Mr. Charles Henninger who was an American tanner who promoted Western-style leather in Japan around the begining of Meiji era.
Crumple goat leather tanned with a plants astringency vertically, horizontally, and diagonally many times, to make deep unevenness on the surface. Because most of the processes needs expertise skill, only skilled craftsmen can manufacture it.
“Chari leather” is very rare and beautiful leather unique to Japan, it was used as a material for bags.

Writer Piccolo TITANIUM

Writer Piccolo model is made with titanium. It is a single thread screw.
It has the inorganic texture and weight that comes from the property of metal.
