Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI-BLACK　

This is inspired by “Negoro-nuri”. It is a “Honkataji” finish that applies lacquer in layers after the process of “Nunokise” which is putting a cloth underneath. Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section.
It is painted the base with vermilion lacquer and on the top with black lacquer so that the red fabric could be seen from the cracks. It is not fully polished finish, but has a slightly less glossy finish to give it a used feel.

Cigar Piccolo NEGORO STYLE

“Negoro-nuri” is one of Japanese lacquer painting technique that applies vermilion lacquer on to the black lacquer applied to the base. The black lacquer underneath sometimes comes up from the vermilion lacquer coatings and looks like patterns.
“Honkataji” is a sturdy piece of work that is coated with a base layer of cloth or lacquer and then applied lacquer.

Cigar Piccolo LAVA　

This pen was designed with inspiration from lava.
Carving with a carving knife to make grooves on “Nunokise” and “Honkagaji” finish base, sprinkling gold powder to the grooves. Then sprinkle charcoal powder and paint vermilion lacquer and blur it to express lava.

Cigar Portable SPIDER

Nakaya expressed a Spider (Kumo) by “Sumiko” (charcoal powder) technique. The web was written by a thin brush pen and polished up (“togi-dashi”) after sprinking silver powders. The Spider has an appearance of solidity by “Taka-Maki-e” heaping up technology with black and yellow Urushi lacquer and polish up. (“togi-dashi”). Lastly, we added in detail parts of the Spider and polished up as Roiro (gross) finishing. On the grip section, a craftman used gold powder as base. A flower was written in gold, a butterfly was heaped up by Urushi lacquer and sprinkled by gold powder and rubbed with black and white Urushi and polished. (“togi-dashi”).

Cigar Long KATANA　

Cigar Long SPERM WHALE & GIANT SQUID　

The design on this pen represents a fight between a sperm whale and a giant squid unfolding in the deep sea.

The whale is finished with Sumiko and the squid with Taka-Makie.

This provides a wonderful contrast, which is further accented by a stream of water in Raden.

Cigar Long HORRIBLE SKELETON

Some apparition try to escape from between grip section and barrel or barrel itself so they make a crack on the barrel. The skeleton excludes us from the cracking space in the reproachful. One long arm of apparition expand from another crack. Inside of crack , there are fire flame , ghost, and lantern ghost…. But also this pen has also described “Dokkosho”. “Dokkosho” is magic bar which made evil things flee. So you can avoid every bad thing! Some of these apparition is described by a very famous Ukiyoe artist in Japan named Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849). Maki-e technique ; Background is mainly used Koboku-shiage (ancient Indian ink powders finishing) ,Skelton and arm is Taka-makie (silver powder heaping up mathod). Apparition inside of crack. Mainly used tin round polished powders in Shu(red) color.

Miyabigi Series PHERNAMBUCO　

It is the same rectilinear form as “Bamboo Basket Mesh” and set the coveres made from Pernambuco. The size is almost the same as Piccolo but 1~2mm thicker because of the covers.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section are painted with black lacquer.
Because Pernambuco is a natural material, each wood grain and color will vary each other. To take advantage of the wood texture, It is only polished. Please be careful not to get ink on it because it is not coated. Also, since Pernambuco was originally used as a raw material for dyes, the color may transfer due to sweat or etc.

Pernambuco is a rare material native to Brazil and is used for the bows of stringed instruments. Due to excessive logging in Brazil, it is now protected by CITES and is difficult to obtain.

Miyabigi Series EIBOKU

The unique pattern of black and gray blending with the warmth of the wood grain contrasts with the chic and calm design.

The name “Eiboku” expresses the simplicity of the combination of the shadow-like pattern and the grain of the wood.

Since the decoration matches the grain of the wood, the expression of the urushi lacquer part differs from one piece to another.

Miyabigi Series KOHAKUBOKU

The wood is decorated with Urusih Nashiji technique.  The deep brown hue and fine shimmer like gold dust are distinctive and very elegant. 

The design, in which the grain of the wood is visible, also evokes a sense of natural and traditional beauty.

The name “amber wood” was chosen to express the transparency and warmth of the amber-like hue.

Since the decoration matches the grain of the wood, the expression of the urushi lacquer part differs from one piece to another.
