Miyabigi Series KAGOAMIME

Based on the “Rattan Basket” fountain pen of Platinum Fountain Pens CO.,LTD. (produced around year 1924), it is designed in rectilinear form that was mainstream at the time covering with a bamboo basket knitted hexagonally using thinly shaved bamboo. The size is almost the same as Piccolo size.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section, and the basket are painted with black lacquer. The parts under the baske are finished with washed vermilion (Arai-shu) lacquer.

*”Hexagonal knitting” is the most popular bamboo knitting which the mesh looks like hexagon.

Miyabigi Series PHERNAMBUCO　

It is the same rectilinear form as “Bamboo Basket Mesh” and set the coveres made from Pernambuco. The size is almost the same as Piccolo but 1~2mm thicker because of the covers.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section are painted with black lacquer.
Because Pernambuco is a natural material, each wood grain and color will vary each other. To take advantage of the wood texture, It is only polished. Please be careful not to get ink on it because it is not coated. Also, since Pernambuco was originally used as a raw material for dyes, the color may transfer due to sweat or etc.

Pernambuco is a rare material native to Brazil and is used for the bows of stringed instruments. Due to excessive logging in Brazil, it is now protected by CITES and is difficult to obtain.

Miyabigi Series EIBOKU

The unique pattern of black and gray blending with the warmth of the wood grain contrasts with the chic and calm design.

The name “Eiboku” expresses the simplicity of the combination of the shadow-like pattern and the grain of the wood.

Miyabigi Series KOHAKUBOKU

The wood is decorated with Urusih Nashiji technique.  The deep brown hue and fine shimmer like gold dust are distinctive and very elegant. 

The design, in which the grain of the wood is visible, also evokes a sense of natural and traditional beauty.

The name “amber wood” was chosen to express the transparency and warmth of the amber-like hue.

Miyabigi Series SEIBOKUYA

“Seibokuya” expresses the warmth of wood with its grain and the twinkling of the starry sky in Raden.

Dorsal Fin 1 ICE FIELD　

This pen is designed with image of an ice field in mind.
To sharpen the groove edges, cut it by carving knife.
Adding silver powders slightly to the groove.
It is left unpolished.

D-17 Portable LONG WISTERIA

This piece features an illustration of “fuji flower (wisteria)”.
The wisteria is drawn with alternating flowers, buds and leaves, using the iro-togidashi technique, providing a glamorous look.

D-17 Long WHALE & WAVE 　

The whale is drawn with charcoal powder and finished with a black urushi lacquer polished. The eyes are made of tiny cut gold, and the whiskers are drawn one by one and sprinkled gold powder.
The design is such that all the rough waves around the whale merge into one at the tip of the pen barrel. They are drawn with silver powder, and adding height differences to each wave, creates the looks of waves colliding violently. In addition, the waves lines of are drawn one by one with very thin golden lines. The waves are also drawn on the grip section.
The whale is boldly placed in the detailed waves on a gorgeous background applied urushi lacquer using gold powder, creating a lively and gorgeous finish.

D-17 Long SEIOHBO　

The motif is the Queen Mother of the West (Seiohbo), a goddess who grants immortality.
The background is blurred by sprinkling gold powder and kinhirame (flattened gold powder). Clouds and other objects in the background are drawn by polishing Maki-e technique. The Queen Mother of the West is drawn using both Gin-yuji piling up technique and Kaki-wari technique. The kaki-wari technique is a technique to express lines by drawing around the line, so the lines look hollow. It is able to express the three-dimensional feelings and softness on the bulges of the cheeks and the folds of the clothes by kaki-wari technique.
To draw very delicately in the details of such as the fine patterns on the clothes and use many soft curves make the result a luxurious and delicate finish.
