Cigar Portable WIND&THUNDER GODS

We achieved brilliant enhancement with “Tame-sukashi” effects, added a sprinkling of gold powder on the surface of “Shuai-urushi”, and coated with ”Tame-sukashi” again using “Shuai-urushi”.　

Cigar Long MOOSE　

A conifer tree described on a cap is black and a couple of moose on a body is painted with tame-sukashi technique.

Cigar Long LOVELY RABBITS

A couple rabbits motif is made based on the famous”Chojyugiga” pictures. The wife and husband rabbits are enjoying the moon in gentle atmosphere. This is the first model of mixture of 2 techniques refer to Tame-nuri. A pair of rabbits were expressed by ‘Tame-sukashi’ which is under the layer, a cloud of moon was expressed by ‘Yako-nuri’ which is over the layer.

We put Raden (sea shell) to some parts of the banch of grapes.

Cigar Long ROKAKU-SANSUIZU　

The two-layered Tame-sukashi technique gives a deep sumi-e like finish to the motif, “Landscape with a Castle”. Draw motifs on a black colored base with the tame-sukashi technique. Then, draw motifs on that previous layer with tame-sukashi technique. This creates depths to the motifs. Unlike aka-tamenuri and kuro-tamenuri, which use shu (vermilion) as a base color, the background does not become brighter but only the motifs become more vivid.

The motif is based on “Landscape with a Castle” drawn to 6 songs 1 double folding screen by Ikeno Taiga, a painter from the middle of the Edo period. The Castle and Landscape are each depicted to the right and left panels.

Cigar Long WILD DRAGON

This is a popular dragon motif. Designed with the image of a Japanese dragon, with a more ferocious facial expression than ascending dragon. A jewel is held in the dragon’s hand, and a magatama, an ancient Japanese ornamental stone is inside the jewel. A dragon’s claw designed like a tomoe crest is drawn in the grip section.

Miyabigi Series KAGOAMIME

Based on the “Rattan Basket” fountain pen of Platinum Fountain Pens CO.,LTD. (produced around year 1924), it is designed in rectilinear form that was mainstream at the time covering with a bamboo basket knitted hexagonally using thinly shaved bamboo. The size is almost the same as Piccolo size.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section, and the basket are painted with black lacquer. The parts under the baske are finished with washed vermilion (Arai-shu) lacquer.

*”Hexagonal knitting” is the most popular bamboo knitting which the mesh looks like hexagon.

Miyabigi Series PHERNAMBUCO　

It is the same rectilinear form as “Bamboo Basket Mesh” and set the coveres made from Pernambuco. The size is almost the same as Piccolo but 1~2mm thicker because of the covers.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section are painted with black lacquer.
Because Pernambuco is a natural material, each wood grain and color will vary each other. To take advantage of the wood texture, It is only polished. Please be careful not to get ink on it because it is not coated. Also, since Pernambuco was originally used as a raw material for dyes, the color may transfer due to sweat or etc.

Pernambuco is a rare material native to Brazil and is used for the bows of stringed instruments. Due to excessive logging in Brazil, it is now protected by CITES and is difficult to obtain.

GOAT SHRINK LEATHER

The fountain pen wrapped with goat shrink leather.
It is designed with a low center of gravity and metals are used to its cover and screws. Custimization is available to change the color of clip, pen nib, and metal parts.

The goat shirink leather is called “chari leather” in Japan, named after Mr. Charles Henninger who was an American tanner who promoted Western-style leather in Japan around the begining of Meiji era.
Crumple goat leather tanned with a plants astringency vertically, horizontally, and diagonally many times, to make deep unevenness on the surface. Because most of the processes needs expertise skill, only skilled craftsmen can manufacture it.
“Chari leather” is very rare and beautiful leather unique to Japan, it was used as a material for bags.
