D-17 Long BLUE ROSE

A rose is drawn on the cap as a focal point with shells. The body has a spiral line. All are carefully drawn using the Raden technique.
The base is Heki-tamenuri, giving it a softer impression than the black base.

“Raden” is a decorating technique that the pearl colored inner part of a seashell is cut into various thin shapes and attached to the lacquered surface.

D-17 Long MUKUGE

The 17mm barrel is heavy and fits firmly in the hand, giving the fountain pen a sense of stability.

A rose of Sharon (Mukuge) is drawn on the cap as a focal point with shells. In addition to using the shells as is, shadings are added to the petals with vermilion lacquer to create a soft and cute look. The body has a spiral line. All are carefully drawn using the Raden technique.
The base is Heki-tamenuri, giving it a softer impression than the black base.
A rose of Sharon (Mukuge) belongs to the same family Malvaceae as hibiscus. It is said that the flower has come to Japan during the Heian period, and has been used as arrangement flower for a tea ceremony. The ephemeral nature of Mukuge which blooms at dawn and wilts in the evening is expressed in the historical fact as “Kinka, a day’s glory (dream).” Along with the winter camellia, this flower has been loved by tea masters.

Cigar Piccolo AMANOGAWA

The design inspired by the “Milky Way” shining in the night sky is expressed with Raden.
A lots of fine shellfish (Mijin shellfish) of different sizes are used and put them in a spiral pattern with a gradation.
By making the base in black (KuroRoiro), the shine of Raden stands out, creating a finish that looks just like the Milky Way shining in the night sky.

Cigar Portable MANTEN

A starry sky is expressed by scattering small shellfish all over the black (KuroRoiro) base. Then the Milky Way more shining brightly is drawn in a spiral pattern in the starry sky. Also shellfishes are spread all over the grip section to create the feeling of a starry sky.
It has a more gorgeous and glittering finish than “Milky Way”.

Dorsal Fin 1 ICE FIELD　

This pen is designed with image of an ice field in mind.
To sharpen the groove edges, cut it by carving knife.
Adding silver powders slightly to the groove.
It is left unpolished.

D-17 Long SUZU-NUNOME

Suzu nunome, a large part of the base is dressed with hemp cloth and fixed with urushi lacquer, then the base lacquer is applied to the nunome and black lacquer is applied. Tin powder is sprinkled and fixed with lacquer, and the texture of the cloth is polished and glazed so that the texture of the cloth appears on the axis.
The finish is scratch-resistant while maintaining a beautiful luster.
The cover part is made of “Suzu Ishime”.
The thickness of the cover is about 1mm thicker than the original thickness because it is covered with a cloth.

Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI Heki-tame

Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section. 

Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI-BLACK　

This is inspired by “Negoro-nuri”. It is a “Honkataji” finish that applies lacquer in layers after the process of “Nunokise” which is putting a cloth underneath. Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section.
It is painted the base with vermilion lacquer and on the top with black lacquer so that the red fabric could be seen from the cracks. It is not fully polished finish, but has a slightly less glossy finish to give it a used feel.

Cigar Piccolo NEGORO STYLE

This is inspired by “Negoro-nuri”. It is a “Honkataji” finish that applies lacquer in layers after the process of “Nunokise” which is putting a cloth underneath. Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section. Base color is “Arai shu”.

“Negoro-nuri” is one of Japanese lacquer painting technique that applies vermilion lacquer on to the black lacquer applied to the base. The black lacquer underneath sometimes comes up from the vermilion lacquer coatings and looks like patterns.
“Honkataji” is a sturdy piece of work that is coated with a base layer of cloth or lacquer and then applied lacquer.
