Cigar Piccolo ENJOYING THE MOON CAT　

The design is based on the theme of cats enjoying the moon. The two cats and the footprints on the grip section are drawn with “Yako Maki-e” technique. The moon is drawn with “Tamesukashi” technique. Base color is “Aka-tamenuri”.
“Yako Maki-e” is Nakaya’s original name for the technique that drawing motifs with black lacquer on “tamenuri” base. As the Tamenuri background becomes brighter over time, the black lacquered motifs become more apparent.

Cigar Portable FOREST OF OWL

A wide variety of owl motifs are drawn on the “Byakudannuri” base using “Yako Maki-e” technique so that they are scattered throughout.
It is designed as the image of various owls spending their time in the forest.
The motif of owl wings is drawn with “Yako Maki-e” to the grip section.

“Byakudannuri” is the technique that painting the base in black, applying a transparent lacquer urushi, and sprinkling silver powder on it, then again painting the entire surface with transparent lacquer and polish to finish. It is brighter than “Tamenuri” and has a beautiful reflection slightly fluctuating by light.

This work is painted with a base of silver, followed by ebony lacquering with green new lacquer and many cats in black urushi lacquer.

Cigar Portable AKITSUSHIMA　

The design is expressed a lot of dragonflies flying around using “Yako Maki-e” technique on the “Byakudannuri” base. The design name “Akitsushima” is another name for Japan, and “Akitsu” is the old name for dragonfly.
It is designed based on an image of countless dragonflies flying in a forest at dusk. The flying dragonflies are carefully depicted one by one. Also some dragonflies are drawn on the grip section.
For the base color, amber “Byakudannuri” is used to express the image of dusk.

“Byakudannuri” is the technique that painting the base in black, applying a transparent lacquer such as “shuai urushi”, and sprinkling silver powder on it, then again painting the entire surface with transparent lacquer and polish to finish. Miyabigi Series KAGOAMIME

Based on the “Rattan Basket” fountain pen of Platinum Fountain Pens CO.,LTD. (produced around year 1924), it is designed in rectilinear form that was mainstream at the time covering with a bamboo basket knitted hexagonally using thinly shaved bamboo. The size is almost the same as Piccolo size.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section, and the basket are painted with black lacquer. The parts under the baske are finished with washed vermilion (Arai-shu) lacquer.

*”Hexagonal knitting” is the most popular bamboo knitting which the mesh looks like hexagon.

Miyabigi Series PHERNAMBUCO　

It is the same rectilinear form as “Bamboo Basket Mesh” and set the coveres made from Pernambuco. The size is almost the same as Piccolo but 1~2mm thicker because of the covers.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section are painted with black lacquer.
Because Pernambuco is a natural material, each wood grain and color will vary each other. To take advantage of the wood texture, It is only polished. Please be careful not to get ink on it because it is not coated. Also, since Pernambuco was originally used as a raw material for dyes, the color may transfer due to sweat or etc.

Pernambuco is a rare material native to Brazil and is used for the bows of stringed instruments. Due to excessive logging in Brazil, it is now protected by CITES and is difficult to obtain.

Miyabigi Series EIBOKU

The unique pattern of black and gray blending with the warmth of the wood grain contrasts with the chic and calm design.

The name “Eiboku” expresses the simplicity of the combination of the shadow-like pattern and the grain of the wood.

Since the decoration matches the grain of the wood, the expression of the urushi lacquer part differs from one piece to another.

The wood is decorated with Urusih Nashiji technique.  The deep brown hue and fine shimmer like gold dust are distinctive and very elegant. 

The design, in which the grain of the wood is visible, also evokes a sense of natural and traditional beauty.

The name “amber wood” was chosen to express the transparency and warmth of the amber-like hue.

“Seibokuya” expresses the warmth of wood with its grain and the twinkling of the starry sky in Raden.

Dorsal Fin 1 ICE FIELD　

This pen is designed with image of an ice field in mind.
To sharpen the groove edges, cut it by carving knife.
Adding silver powders slightly to the groove.
It is left unpolished.
