Cigar Long MOON　

This is a unique design drawing a silver moon boldly on a Kuro-roiro (black) base.
Piling up silver powders many times to create a three-dimensional effect and the uneven texture of the moon’s surface.
In addition, applying black lacquer from the surface of the moon towards the outside and polishing it to make it gradually getting lower express the dark side of the moon.

D-17 Long WHALE & WAVE 　

The whale is drawn with charcoal powder and finished with a black urushi lacquer polished. The eyes are made of tiny cut gold, and the whiskers are drawn one by one and sprinkled gold powder.
The design is such that all the rough waves around the whale merge into one at the tip of the pen barrel. They are drawn with silver powder, and adding height differences to each wave, creates the looks of waves colliding violently. In addition, the waves lines of are drawn one by one with very thin golden lines. The waves are also drawn on the grip section.
The whale is boldly placed in the detailed waves on a gorgeous background applied urushi lacquer using gold powder, creating a lively and gorgeous finish.

D-17 Long SEIOHBO　

The motif is the Queen Mother of the West (Seiohbo), a goddess who grants immortality.
The background is blurred by sprinkling gold powder and kinhirame (flattened gold powder). Clouds and other objects in the background are drawn by polishing Maki-e technique. The Queen Mother of the West is drawn using both Gin-yuji piling up technique and Kaki-wari technique. The kaki-wari technique is a technique to express lines by drawing around the line, so the lines look hollow. It is able to express the three-dimensional feelings and softness on the bulges of the cheeks and the folds of the clothes by kaki-wari technique.
To draw very delicately in the details of such as the fine patterns on the clothes and use many soft curves make the result a luxurious and delicate finish.

D-17 Long FUJIN & RAIJIN

D-17 Long MINAMOTO NO TAMETOMO　

Drawing using colored urushi lacquer to the entire surface of pen. The motif is one scene inspired by the many heroic stories of Minamoto no Tametomo, known as a master archer. Arrows are drawn on the cover using silver Taka Maki-e. The dynamic activities of Minamoto no Tametomo are expressed lively with a variety of colored urushi lacquer on a white urushi lacquer base.
Minamoto no Tametomo is a military commander and historical figure who is the uncle of Minamoto no Yoritomo.

D-17 Long KARASU TENGU　

The motif is the crow tengu. Like the tengu, there are legends of Karasu-tengu in various parts of Japan, and although there is no established theory, it is said that Karasu-tengu excelled at swordsmanship, had divine powers, and even taught swordsmanship to Ushiwakamaru in Kurama, Kyoto. It is said that he taught Ushiwakamaru swordsmanship in Kurama, Kyoto. This piece is made using the advanced technique of kaki-wari based on charcoal powder finishing.

Cigar Long DRAGONS "Kyoto Kenninji temple”　

The motifs are inspired by the dragons of Kyoto Ken-nin-ji temple. It is expressed that dragons appear from clouds. The body of each dragon are described by Togi-kiri-Maki-e technique with silver powders. Clouds also are drawn with silver powders using Bokashi (gradation) technique. And for Ka-en (A fire flame), also using silver powders slightly mixed up with Shu (dark red) powders, by Togi-kiri Maki-e technique. This Togi-kiri Maki-e technique is used to create a texture similar to sumi-e (ink painting).
By using black as the base, the dragon drawn in silver stands out and make a powerful finish.
