Miyabigi Series SEIBOKUYA

“Seibokuya” expresses the warmth of wood with its grain and the twinkling of the starry sky in Raden.

Since the decoration matches the grain of the wood, the expression of the urushi lacquer part differs from one piece to another.

Miyabigi Series KOHAKUBOKU

The wood is decorated with Urusih Nashiji technique.  The deep brown hue and fine shimmer like gold dust are distinctive and very elegant. 

The design, in which the grain of the wood is visible, also evokes a sense of natural and traditional beauty.

The name “amber wood” was chosen to express the transparency and warmth of the amber-like hue.

The unique pattern of black and gray blending with the warmth of the wood grain contrasts with the chic and calm design.

The name “Eiboku” expresses the simplicity of the combination of the shadow-like pattern and the grain of the wood.

Cigar Piccolo LAVA　

This pen was designed with inspiration from lava.
Carving with a carving knife to make grooves on “Nunokise” and “Honkagaji” finish base, sprinkling gold powder to the grooves. Then sprinkle charcoal powder and paint vermilion lacquer and blur it to express lava.

Dorsal Fin 1 ICE FIELD　

This pen is designed with image of an ice field in mind.
To sharpen the groove edges, cut it by carving knife.
Adding silver powders slightly to the groove.
It is left unpolished.

GOAT SHRINK LEATHER

The fountain pen wrapped with goat shrink leather.
It is designed with a low center of gravity and metals are used to its cover and screws. Custimization is available to change the color of clip, pen nib, and metal parts.

The goat shirink leather is called “chari leather” in Japan, named after Mr. Charles Henninger who was an American tanner who promoted Western-style leather in Japan around the begining of Meiji era.
Crumple goat leather tanned with a plants astringency vertically, horizontally, and diagonally many times, to make deep unevenness on the surface. Because most of the processes needs expertise skill, only skilled craftsmen can manufacture it.
“Chari leather” is very rare and beautiful leather unique to Japan, it was used as a material for bags.

Miyabigi Series PHERNAMBUCO　

It is the same rectilinear form as “Bamboo Basket Mesh” and set the coveres made from Pernambuco. The size is almost the same as Piccolo but 1~2mm thicker because of the covers.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section are painted with black lacquer.
Because Pernambuco is a natural material, each wood grain and color will vary each other. To take advantage of the wood texture, It is only polished. Please be careful not to get ink on it because it is not coated. Also, since Pernambuco was originally used as a raw material for dyes, the color may transfer due to sweat or etc.

Pernambuco is a rare material native to Brazil and is used for the bows of stringed instruments. Due to excessive logging in Brazil, it is now protected by CITES and is difficult to obtain.

Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI Heki-tame

Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section. 

Cigar Piccolo NEGORO STYLE

This is inspired by “Negoro-nuri”. It is a “Honkataji” finish that applies lacquer in layers after the process of “Nunokise” which is putting a cloth underneath. Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.

“Negoro-nuri” is one of Japanese lacquer painting technique that applies vermilion lacquer on to the black lacquer applied to the base. The black lacquer underneath sometimes comes up from the vermilion lacquer coatings and looks like patterns.
“Honkataji” is a sturdy piece of work that is coated with a base layer of cloth or lacquer and then applied lacquer.

Miyabigi Series KAGOAMIME

Based on the “Rattan Basket” fountain pen of Platinum Fountain Pens CO.,LTD. (produced around year 1924), it is designed in rectilinear form that was mainstream at the time covering with a bamboo basket knitted hexagonally using thinly shaved bamboo. The size is almost the same as Piccolo size.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section, and the basket are painted with black lacquer. The parts under the baske are finished with washed vermilion (Arai-shu) lacquer.

*”Hexagonal knitting” is the most popular bamboo knitting which the mesh looks like hexagon.
