Cigar Long DRAGONS "Kyoto Kenninji temple”　

The motifs are inspired by the dragons of Kyoto Ken-nin-ji temple. It is expressed that dragons appear from clouds. The body of each dragon are described by Togi-kiri-Maki-e technique with silver powders. Clouds also are drawn with silver powders using Bokashi (gradation) technique. And for Ka-en (A fire flame), also using silver powders slightly mixed up with Shu (dark red) powders, by Togi-kiri Maki-e technique. This Togi-kiri Maki-e technique is used to create a texture similar to sumi-e (ink painting).
By using black as the base, the dragon drawn in silver stands out and make a powerful finish.

We have brought cherry blossoms to life with silver powder. Cherry blossoms are a traditional and commonly used motif for Japanese people. We have succeeded in making a modern looking design while embracing tradition.

Cigar Portable SILVER BAMBOO

The base color is deep green, and drawing the bamboo with silver powder in tsukegaki technique. By using the green color as a base and drawing the bamboo like growing upwards makes it possible to express strength and youthfulness within the traditional motif.
Bamboo has been considered a lucky charm since ancient times. Its green and straight growth symbolizes the prosperity of descendants, giving it the image of a clean plant. In the West also, it is considered as a symbol of longevity, youth, and strength.

Cigar Portable UNRYU-ZU　

We have created a makie of Unryu-zu, a masterpiece of Soga Shouhaku, an artist of the mid-Edo period.

Silver color was harmonized on a black base while a similar taste to sumie was created by utilizing a technique of heaping up and polishing.
We believe we were able to reproduce a touch of Shouhaku’s humor.

The original painting stored in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) is a masterpiece of Shouhaku, which is painted in eight panel-folding screens. We have used the four panels from the left as a motif.

Cigar Portable DRAGONFLYS

We painted dragonfly on a transparent acrylic pen.
Akebono lacquering of black and vermilion combined lacquer was applied to the transparent base, inspired by Emile Gallé’s lamps. In order not to spoil the transparency of the base, we heaped up several layers of Shu-ai urushi and painted the motif.

Cigar Portable KIBAMUSHA

In the China region, the horse is a good luck charm meaning success and advancement. The basic methods used are a combination of iro-togidashi (gold powder base) and kakiwari (design is left in reverse in order to reveal the underlying layer of lacquer).

Horse on cap: The black is ground back to a gold background (iro-togidasi). Samurai kariginu (garment worn in religious ceremonies):The tea color is ground back to a gold background (iro-togidashi). Horse on body: The white is ground back to a gold background (iro-togidasshi). Samurai kariginu: The blue is ground back to a gold background (iro-togidashi). The red for the harness is the same, with the details of the tassel being added with fine lines. The lines for the horse itself are produced using the kakiwari technique.

The Fujin and the Raijin have been made a stunning reality by using “Tame-sukashi” techniques.
We achieved brilliant enhancement with “Tame-sukashi” effects, added a sprinkling of gold powder on the surface of “Shuai-urushi”, and coated with ”Tame-sukashi” again using “Shuai-urushi”.　

Cigar Portable GOOD FORTUNE TALISMAN　

We put many typical good fortune talisman on whole body of the pen. Motives are a crane, a turtle, a pine tree, a bamboo and a plum tree. Each motif is roundly designed and arranged in the whole.
