Cigar Long FLOWER SCREEN　

Chrysanthemum flowers are depicted on a gradation of gold nashiji. The white chrysanthemum in the center is depicted with a white shell to enhance the loveliness of the chrysanthemum flower.

Cigar Long DRAGONFLY in THE SUNSET SKY

The dragonfly which has been considered as an auspicious pattern that brings a good luck since ancient times is drawn. The image is that the red sky at sunset expressed by vermillion urushi lacquer and the dragonfly flies in that madder red sky. Vermilion is considered as a presious color represent of sun, fire, and life and has been used respectedly. To express a sunset view, I placed a kinhirame and sprinkled gold and platinum powder to create a pattern that resembled evening clouds. The body of dragonfly is drawn by taka maki-e techinique with gold lacquer, its compound eyes are expressed with kinhirame, and the wings are finished with raden.

Cigar Long PEACOCK with WISTERIA

The motifs of wisteria and peacock are expressed by Chinkin dot and line engraving.
The body is decorated with nashiji bokashi and wisteria flowers are scattered on the cover.

Miyabigi Series KAGOAMIME

Based on the “Rattan Basket” fountain pen of Platinum Fountain Pens CO.,LTD. (produced around year 1924), it is designed in rectilinear form that was mainstream at the time covering with a bamboo basket knitted hexagonally using thinly shaved bamboo. The size is almost the same as Piccolo size.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section, and the basket are painted with black lacquer. The parts under the baske are finished with washed vermilion (Arai-shu) lacquer.

*”Hexagonal knitting” is the most popular bamboo knitting which the mesh looks like hexagon.

Miyabigi Series PHERNAMBUCO　

It is the same rectilinear form as “Bamboo Basket Mesh” and set the coveres made from Pernambuco. The size is almost the same as Piccolo but 1~2mm thicker because of the covers.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section are painted with black lacquer.
Because Pernambuco is a natural material, each wood grain and color will vary each other. To take advantage of the wood texture, It is only polished. Please be careful not to get ink on it because it is not coated. Also, since Pernambuco was originally used as a raw material for dyes, the color may transfer due to sweat or etc.

Pernambuco is a rare material native to Brazil and is used for the bows of stringed instruments. Due to excessive logging in Brazil, it is now protected by CITES and is difficult to obtain.

Cigar Long JUMPING CARP

The jumping carp, which is said to be a sign of good luck, is finished with charcoal powder.
The lively sound of the water surface is expressed with charcoal powder and heaped silver.

Gigar Long GOLDEN OWL

The owl is considered a good-luck charm because of its name, which means “no hardship,” “good fortune,” and “old age. The motif of owl is drawn by Chinkin technique only.
The owl motif is realistically expressed by precise technique.

Cigar Long Suzu Ishime (Midori)　

It is “Suzu Ishime” which uses “roasted tin powder” instead of Kanshitsu (dry lacquer) powder.
Using the roasted tin powder made it possible to creates the material finish.
This Suzuishime green uses the special blue-green color lacquer for the base, and the finish becomes soft and bright.

“Ishime” is created with the special technique that makes stone like texture on the surface.
When the dry lacquer powder is sprinkled on a lacquered surface, surface tension works and the powder gathered in places.
Making use of the clumps created by chance, layer the lacquer, let it fix, and then polish it to create “Ishime”.
It will be the “cobblestone-like” finish in the garden.

Cigar Long DESCENDING DRAGON　

“Descending Dragon” is drawn to the body. A dragon , has been living for a long period on the ground ascend to the heaven and catch a dragon ball. And the dragon trains there for long years and descends to the ground after training. There are many region opinions about how many years for staying in the heaven such as 100years, or 1,000 years. Also it is said that the color of dragon’s body when falling when rising is also different though the ascending dragon and the descending dragon are a pair of one. A craftsmen use “Hari-Kaki” technique which is scratching small lines by needle for the dragon’s scale. A background is Taka-Makie , a grip section is clouds by several kind of fine gold powders.

Cigar Long FIGHTING ROOSTERS

The details of such as the roosters wings and crest were carefully drawn with Maki-e technique. The dynamism of fighting cocks is expressed through the movement of the tails and soaring feathers. Such as the gold, silver and other colors stand out well on the black base, creating a very beautiful finish.
